An aspherical lens is rotationally symmetric, with one or more non-spherical surfaces that deviate from the shape of a sphere. The surfaces change their radius of curvature with increasing distance from the optical axis. These properties allow the light rays to converge in one point and the spherical aberration to be corrected.
